Did You Hear the News??

Collegiate Readership has arrived at WU

Pick up your free copies of USA Today, The New York Times, and Topeka Capital-Journal. Just pick up the paper from open-air bins located in Henderson, Morgan, Petro, Mabee, the Living Learning Center, Washburn Village and the Union! This is a great way to stay up on current events!


Free Printing??!!

That's right!! WSGA helps support free printing to all students in Mabee Library. So make sure to visit the library and print off that research paper while you study!


Safe Ride 267-3777

Safe Ride provides a complimentary one-way ride from a drinking establishment (bar or restaurant with a bar) to a residence.
- Students must show their Washburn Student ID
- May only be used between the hours of 9 p.m. and 4 a.m. during the school year (not summer or winter breaks)
- WU students may be accompanied by non-WU students, but only one destination is allowed.

-Destination must be in Topeka.
- Students may only receive ONE RIDE PER NIGHT.
- Students will be calling CAPITOL CITY TAXI and WSGA reimburses the company for WU students. The taxi company reserves the right to refuse service.
- WSGA receives the bill which includes the names of the students using the services each month One Student (not facutly or administration) looks over it to ensure abuse is not occuring
- Abuse could/will lead to student's privilege being revoked (you abuse you lose)
- Students must allow 30 minutes for the taxi to come. Charges are given for no-shows or students who don't come out of the drinking establishment


iSave- Student Discount Program

The Student Discount Program is a select group of local businesses who offer special discounts with a valid Washburn iCard. The local businesses are geared towards the spending needs students frequent. These discounts will literally save students $100s of dollars, so be sure to stop by the WSGA office (lower level, Memorial Union) to receive a free Student Discount Program card.

iConnect-Student Liaison Program

Student organizations may request a senator be assigned to them.  This senator will maintain regular contact with the organization, and act as a liaison. The purpose of this program is to readily answer any question that might pertain to WSGA and bridge any gaps between the two organizations.

Funding

Registered student organizations are eligible for up to $2,500 for off-campus events and $3,500 total per year.

Bod Blast Orientation and Homecoming
Each year, WSGA co-sponsors these events to promote school spirit among students, faculty, and alumni.

College Hill Redevelopment and Community Service

Washburn Student Government has worked closely with the city of Topeka to improve the areas around campus. The College Hill development plan has brought Washburn students into the community through organized clean-ups, going to city council meetings, and working closely with alumni to make the area around campus more safe and student oriented.
